Sending a gun outside US

I have a gun for sale, and a guy in Turkey is asking me to ship it to him there. Do I need to follow certain rules to do so?

You'd better be finding an Importer/Exporter in the Gun Business..Bite Your Lip and expect to spend a few bucks...At any Rate you'll have covered You'd Butt...Don't endeavor to make an inplay because You could end up playing a 10 year stint at Rock Hockey on Devils Island...If You get My Drift....!

I have sold several guns to residents of other countries. Each time, the buyer was required to find a licensed gun dealer in the USA who is also an exporter and pay all of the exporters fees and shipping from exporter to the buyer. I paid shipping to the exporter and shipped on his FFL. Up front, I made clear to the buyer that my responsibilty ended when the gun was received by the exporter. Payment was by international money order or wire transfer. Be aware that it can take months for a firearm to reach an overseas destination. I once sold a Colt Government Model pistol to a fellow in Europe (France or Germany, if I remember correctly) and it took almost six months for the gun to get there.
