It's Stuck...

I am going to be listing this .22 on GB auctions and am having a problem.

I received this Stevens .22 Visible Loader from my client in this condition & the rifle appears to be locked up (or I could just be totally overlooking the obvious)... the trigger moves but does nothing & I can't get anything else to happen to help unlock the hammer etc. I was wondering if maybe the broken stock may have something to do with it? Also I can't decide if I should remove the paperwork that is taped to the stock or just leave it. It is scotch taped & has been there a long time...
Any ideas/help?

I don't see where you risk damaging a valuable gun. I'd douse the action liberally with Kroil overnight, then pound the frap out of it with a plastic mallet or a piece of 2x4.

Get all that grungy stuff off of it and it make come loose..
Do what the above poster said, cause you sure aren't going to hurt the value of it..

Would pulling the screws hurt it? Just thought you might be able to disassemble and solve the problem. I am sure as it is someone would buy

Old gunsmiths don't call these miserable loaders for nothing. I would sell it as is if simple tapping on the bolt doesn't free it up.

Hey thanks for the input, new guy still learning! A few hard fwaps with the trusty mallet released it & now it works pretty well...

The TAPS to the hammer no doubt broke the very delicate parts inside the receiver that locks the action in battery. Difficult if not impossible parts to get . Next time remove the lower screw on the left side of the receiver(inspection hole) and with a small pin you can move the locking mechanism which will allow the bolt/slide to go forward.

The internal timing of the action is VERY easy to mess up, and also VERY tedious to get back to where it belongs.
Personally, I'd leave it just like it is, and list it as a parts gun. BTW, the stock has nothing to do with your problems.

I did just that... I listed it as a parts gun. I was able to get the action to work but still hangs up every now & then.
