i just received my Grandfathers Model 62a S/N 151222. It has minor surface rust. Stock is in good condition with minor nicks on the top of the stock. i suspect it is from riding in a gun rack in the window of a pickup. It appears to be all original with minimum wear. My uncles date it 1923. According to what I have read I am not sure. I would like to know the date of manufactured and it approx worth. It also has my Grandfathers initials carved in the Forearm. Approx 1" thanks

Your 62a was made in about 1942, maybe '41. In my part of the country with initials and light rust you would probably see it priced a under $500. With no inititals, no rust, and very minor nicks about $600-$700.

Winchester Model 62A serial number 151222 was manufactured in late May of the year 1942. $400 is about right on the value in the condition you describe.
