Hi I am new to this bourd, and would like some info on buying a new shotgun. I have had my rem. 870 for over 20 years now, and I have shot thousands of rounds through it. well it is starting to show its age. I am thinking of going to a simi-auto this time and would like to know a good gun for a modest budget. I know the three B's (benelli, beretta, browning) are good guns but alot of cash.I am not aginst another remington or maybe even a mossberg, but I am looking at the new weatherby sa-08 synthetic any information will help thank you.[:)]

You can get a Beretta AL 390 at Walmart for $547, it's blk/syn. I also own a Mossberg 935 that hasn't given me one problem, it's designed for 3-3.5" shells but will cycle 2 3/4" 1 1/8oz loads without any problems.

Since, you were satisfied with the Remington 870, you will be happy with either the 1100 or 11-87.

Can't attest to the new Weatherbys, but their older Orion (I think that is right)gave people a lot of problems.

Let me second the notion for the stoeger 2000. When they first came out, I was working P T at Sportsmans Whse. A couple of our shot gun guy's completely disasembled, a 2000, and a Benelli SBE. You can't tell them apart!!! If my memory is correct, Benelli owns Stoeger now. None of the Stoegers ever came back. Good Luck

sad. the minute people think shotguns, they always go for new.
i'd rather have a used winchester model 50 than all those mentioned above.
and if you shop smart...you can still find NEW OLD stock shotguns made with pride 'back in the day.'
and how can we forget the 1100? whew. times sure have changed.

shop for old...and be amazed whats out there.[;)]

I picked up a really nice used Remington Sportsman 48 semi auto for $150 and it has been flawless--now of course that might be a bit older than you want to go but there are nice older guns out there that won't break the bank. I don't think there's a more beautiful semi auto out there than an Browning though.
