any one have an opinion on russian mosin nagant's? I just got one for christmas.

    what model did you get?...m44..m38. 91-30?..i have the 44 and the 91-30 and enjoy them both,,,you can buy either modern non corrosive ammo or corrosive mil surplus..7.62 x 54 r...if you got the m44 make sure you extend the bayonet as these were designed to be fully extended when fired..i recently took my 91-30 out and with old mil surp ammo and out shot a guy with a garand at 100 yards open sights...get the silver tip ammo as this is light ball and less recoil on the old shoulder....they are alot of fun to shoot and cheap overall..remember to super clean the gun after using mil surp ammo as it is corrosive...welcome to the world of Military Surplus Firearms[:D]

    Ugly, crude, reliable as all get out, will still work if you run over it with a car, good power, good accuracy. Got 3 of the little boogers- a 91/30, M38, and M44. Good info at surplusrifle.com, including improving trigger pull, and "sticky bolt" syndrome. Good guns. Stock up on some milsurp ammo while it is still cheap- not gonna last forever.
