looking into the possibility of purchasing a BAR but I know little abotu the gun. One question I know I have right now, does the current BAR have 10 or 20 round clips available? I know olde timey BARs had (I believe) 20 round clips but currently they are sold with 4/5 round box clips. is this something that is specifically limited? or is this just how its sold out of the factory, and one could find aftermarket clips with larger capacity?

The current BAR is a semi-automatic hunting rifle with a 4 shot magazine. They are not the same gun or interchangeable, it is all just advertising with a famous name.
What with the way the magazine attaches to the floorplate, I don't see an easy way to get more capacity.
The Browning Automatic Rifle is a Browning designed, Belgian or Japanese manufactured semiauto sporting rifle that's available in several variations, calibers and barrel lengths. Depending upon the caliber it's magazine capacity is a maximum of 3-4 rounds.
The 30.06 caliber US military light machine gun commonly referred to as the 'BAR' is more correctly an M1918/M1918A1/M1918A2/M1922 light machinegun. These all used a 20 rd. box magazine, which does not interchange with the sporting BAR.
They share the 'BAR' name, but the designs of these sporting and military guns are radically different.
If you want a rifle to go out and shoot 100 rounds in 5 minures,- just playing around, don't consider a current BAR.
They are the highest quality semi-auto hunting rifle you can find.
They don't use clips - they take magazines.
I've never seen a high capacity magazine for them. This is the first time I've heard of someone needing or wanting one for the BAR.
I have 3, one is 38 years old and I always take one on each hunting trip. Never had a funcioning problem with any of them.
I'm sure someone will be along to tell you of a fast-firing rattle rifle you can consider.
Good luck

Semi-auto reproduction of the 1918A3 - built like a tank. It is not a hunting rifle, but is a lot of fun and true as possible to the original.
