Ruger SR9 9MM

I was thinking of buying this handgun for my wife for protection. She liked the feel of it at local sports store, but has never shot one. It sold for $449.00 Is this a fair price, and is this a good 9mm for the money for protection?

Plese feel free to post if you own one, or know of someone who does.

No. They have had a safety recall and the new trigger is even worse than the old one that was not safe.

IMHO Get a FN FNP9. Much better gun with the same customizable grip.

Yes. The Ruger SR9 is a great High Cap (17+1)pistol although it is a little big for conceal carry.
It is Rugers first attempt at a striker fired pistol.
I have had them out to the range and also really like the way they feel in the hand and shoot.
Look around and I think you can find one cheaper than 449.00

I agree with MVP on this one,.I have shot one several times and no problems at all [150rds].not mine but a relative,he has had it sent to Ruger and recall repaired,.I honestly didn't notice the harder trigger pull on his,his wife also shoots it,but doesn't carry it,she is a petite sized lady and has small hands/body,Ruger really slimmed down the grip on this gun, check this one out here ,good luck..Loko
