Steyr Mannlicher .22 Long Rifle

Decades ago, a friend loaned me a Steyr bolt action .22 LR carbine with the Mannlicher stock and a butterknife bolt handle. I was sorry to have to return it and would like to find another but haven't seen one up for sale anywhere. Does anyone know where one can be had? Thanks you!

What you have described is a Steyr "Zephyr". These were marketed by Stoeger and were in production from 1955 to 1971. They occasionally show up on the internet auctions. Do a search for Steyr Zephyr and you may be lucky enough to find one listed. I would expected the price to be in excess of $1,000.00. If you find one, make sure it comes with the magazine as magazines will be expensive and hard to find.

I don't believe Steyr made many models chambered for the .22LR.

You may have been loaned a Steyr Zephyr made from 1955-71.
I know the later Zephyrs did not have the butterknife bolt handle, maybe the early models did.

They are not easy to find!!!

Expect to pay through the nose when you do find one, but they are SWEET!

If you do a google search for "steyr Zephyr" there is an add for one www.elsewhere.com. Some of these came with scopes. The last and only one to sell on GB went for $1850.

I have 3 of the Steyr .22s. The earliest one has a 2 digit serial # and a non-grooved receiver. None of them have flat bolt handles.
