I just saw a S&W Model 15 in a local shop that looked like one of the older ones. First 4 digits of the serial number are K429. Can anyone tell me around when this was manufactured?
Thanks,
JB

Made in late 1960 or early 1961.

    1960...... K386805 to K429894
    1961...... K429895 to K468098

Whatever the last 3 digits are this should help you narrow it down.

    Thanks Lefty!

Any idea of value? I would rate bluing at ~95% and bore excellent. Shop is asking $389.

$389 is not great, IMO, but if you like the gun then pay the price.

You will never find a current revolver of the same quality at that price.

I agree with zinderbloc....... $389 is a little high. The model 15 was made in great numbers. Its a very good basic revolver.

It will handle +P .38Spl with no problem. Go back and offer him $300 or $325 and see what he says.
