Would it be possible to rechamber a .505 Gibbs semi auto rifle to use .511 (.50 BMG) and should it feed and function properly and should the magazine hold and feed the rounds correctly as well? Thank you.

Are you wanting to replace the barrel to use .510 50BMG bullets in the 505Gibbs case, or rechamber your rifle to handle the 50BMG cartridge (big difference) ?

The Gibbs uses a .505 bullet, has a CL of 3.315 and a OAL of 3.810, not to mention the head diameter of .636 (note the Gibbs OAL is shorter than the BMG case length)
The 50BMG uses a .510 bullet, has a CL of 3.900 and a OAL of 5.435, not to mention the head diameter of .800

Or to put it simply NO WAY are you going to rechamber it to 50BMG and make it function properly. You MIGHT make it work with 50BMG BULLETS in the Gibbs case (only takes a new barrel and a custom reamer to find out), but considering the difference in projectle length I doubt it will work very well.

I didn't think so, although thought it would be worth checking out, too bad, they are nice looking rifles.
