I just bought a saiga 308 and I love it but I want to start feeding it 25rd. mags what do I have to do exactly to make it 922r compliant? Just for the record I think that it is very stupid that if I buy an imported semi-auto that I have to change things in the gun to legally use hi cap mags but I can go buy a AR-10 or 15 and feed it 20rd mags and thats not a problem.

Not that I disagree but the law is the law. You are talking about different types of guns here. The AR's are domestic firearms not IMPORTED ones. Many people know about the 1994 AWB (dealing with domestic firearms) but few are aware of the 1989 IMPORT ban. The 1989 ban stops the importation of "non sporting" firearms. The 1994 ban was basically a copy of the 1989 import ban but delt with domestic firearms. Look up the 1989 import ban and you will get a better understanding.

Here is what you are looking for though, http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?

It is dumb because the politicians that make the laws do not know jack about guns.

Todays imported rifles can have no more than one "evil feature" such as a bayonet/bayonet lug, pistol grip, folding stock, or detachable magazine. You can use a high cap mag legally as long as the high cap detachable mag is the only "evil feature" No need to modify your Saiga (922r) until you add another of the items mentioned above.

well I asked the local gunshop owner and he said I can put whatever I want on it stock wise although I would have to change the trigger group if I went to a pistolgrip stock

Did you read my link? Just because you own a gun shop does not mean you know ALL the laws.

I had a dealer that I know quite well show me a gun he was very proud of the other day. Well turns out the gun he shows me was not legal and I was pretty sure about it right off hand but I figured I would get more info first. Well after the other customers left the store started asking him about import dates and compliance parts. He, for some reason, had NO clue about 922r even existing and was very thankful for my sharing as it is now in a "legal" set up again.

I will try one more time here. Yes you could legally change to another fixed stock but nothing else. Also for the mags you can NOT legally put them in even though the US mags count as 3 parts you still have 11 "imported" parts making it illegal. I know on my Surefire brand mags there was a pice of paper right in them talking about 922r, dont remember exactly what it says though.

Here is as easy as I can make it, http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaVerifyCompliance they have a check box for you to EASILY figure it out. I would C&P it here but I am not smart enough to do it with that kind of page. This page can be found on the link I sent you above.
