When did S&W start manufacturing wheel guns with

the key lock? Are S&W wheel guns without the key locks more desirable or is it just me? Any problem with the key locks?

I believe it was in 2003. Never had any personal experience with the S & W, internal safety lock. Have one on a Taurus, have never used it, ( the lock ). The revolver seems to be none the worse for the lock, i.e. it has never malfunctioned or given me any trouble.

I don't have one, but have read about a few S&W locks coming loose and locking up the gun. I belive if you do a search in these posts you can find them.

I have one Smith with the lock but only because I won it at a match. I dont think I will buy any, just dont like it.

The pre-lock guns are more sought after by collectors and bring a slight premium.
