Best way to anneal brass cases

What is the best way to anneal brass? Set it in water and anneal, or put in shell holder in electric screwdriver, mark with temperature sentive crayon, when crayon mark turns color then dunk in water.

The torch and waterpan method leave a awful lot to be desired as far a consistence is concerned.
Spinning them in a screwdriver, and then dunking them in water helps but still leaves a lot to be desired.
Keeping the heat colors exact is the main problem with those methods.....
