if your buffer tube is in=stalled tight it shouldn't have fell out.
Some people mistakenly back the tube off from fully tight because the pin interfers. The proper method is to tighten the buffer tube down all the way and mar where the retainer pin is and if it interfers you may need to grind a little notch.
I will take a pic of a rifle and post it in a second to explain better, hold on.
I would remove the butt stock and make sure the tube is tightened correctly and retainer is not interfering
10-4 and the spring goes under the retaining pin?
Yes
regardless it needs to be fully tight if it is a fixed stock and if it is a collapsable stock then it still needs to be clocked right and still catch the shoulder of the retainer.
