What about J-B bore cleaner?

I have a Ruger 77 MKII in 280 that to me shows all the signs of a rough bore. It is a bear to clean - copper fouling happens with only a few shots and is very difficult to remove with Sweet's 7.62 or Barnes CR10. But before going after the copper, I use Hopes #9 for the powder fouling. Again very hard to get clean. I use dozens of patches and hours to clean this thing. Its not exactly a tack driver either. Inch and a half groups at 100 seem to be its best. I am thinking I can improve things with a lot of strokes with the J-B. Comments please.

It depends on how rough it is, as how long it takes to clean it up.

an old time shooter i once knew (about 40+ years ago) told me about this stuff and gave me a container about the size of the JB jar full, and i still have what i consider a "life time supply"

You will wear yourself out before you would ever wear a barrel out. It is good for fouling on a good barrel, but it will not smooth out a rough bore.
