hello all,,,a guy at work had his uncle pass away,,,he left his sister,,,guy at works mother,a revolver,,,it is a colt detective 38 special,i'd say stainless because the finish has held up fantastically,,,only 1 blotch on the cylinder which i think you can see in the photos by e-mail only.now it has a prefix of P and the the first 3 digits are 427,,,i tried to look it up but no P's in the look-up,,,i'd say this gun is 90% or 92%,,,anybody have thoughts of the value of this revolver,,,thanks in advance,,,my e-mail is remmy223@gmail.com ,,,thanks

Yes they did. It was called the DS II (Detective Special II).
