Can 45 long colt be fired in a 410 shotgun?

    Can? Maybe. Should? No. Some weapons are made for this- which leads to a belief you can safely do this with all 410's. Great way to get hurt/

    no. w/o lands and grooves to guide the bullet, and w/o a gas seal since shotguns have forcing cones, a dangerous situation is just waiting to happen.

    In theory a 410 has a barrel ID of .410" (a 410 slug measures about .390 IIRC).
    A 45 Colt bullet measures .451 in diameter.

    The "combo" guns use a barrel that is sized for the .451 bullet, and let the base of the 410 wad expand to seal the bore.

    Bottom line is, unless it specificly says 410/45Colt on the barrel, don't do it.
