Do 3.5" chambered shotguns accept 2.75" shells?

Im thinkin of gettin this Mossberg 835 from a guy, and it got a 3.5" chamber, will it accept 2.75" and 3" shells also? Do all 3.5" shotguns accept shorter shells?

    Hi,

    Yep. Just like a 22LR accepts 22 short or 22 long.

    The Mossberg 835 will accept 2 3/4 inch shells however not all 3 inch guns will, for example the Mossberg 935 will not accept them. Just read the owners manual and it should tell you or not if it will accept them

    i believe the 935 is a 3.5 inch chambered gun, but you are right. they do not shoot 2 3/4 inch shells

    Almost correct. The 935 will shoot the 2&3/4 inch shell. Most times it will not eject the light loads. The 835 will eject the light loads.

    My 835 lists 2 3/4, 3, & 3 1/2 right on the barrel. And so far all I have shot through it have been 2 3/4.
