I have heard both good and bad about the Marlin Glenfield 60.

From personal experience, my father-in-law had one years ago. While out hunting with him one day near Carson city, it jammed soooo much, he finally threw it off a cliff.

I watched it fly like a helo rotor and break into pieces at the bottom. He went into town and bought a 10-22 that day.

I've had one for 30 years. It's o.k. for what it is. A very inexpensive utility rifle. Keep the action clean and you shouldn't have any problems!

I have a Marlin model 60 that was my first rifle. It has so many rounds through it I can't even imagine. It still shoots great. I have replaced 1 part a nylon bolt buffer and that is it. Mine may be different slightly than yours but it has been a great rifle for 25 years.

What "Gearheaddad" said, Keep it clean, it will be okay.

When new they are ok. Well used they are close to worthless. We would wear out two each summer (free replacements at K-mart back then), then got smart and invested in a 10-22.

I have a marlin 99c forerunner of the glenfield 60. I had to Replaced plastic buffer after shooting STINGERS but will hold it's own with Factory 10/22 and the marlin has a great trigger The model 60 has a better design ejector. Then the old marlin I love mine.

I've had a Marlin 60 for 23 years, and it has never jammed. Keep the action clean and don't over oil it and it will last for a very long time.

Got one when I was a teenager. Used it for 20+ years. 2 years ago a friends son wanted to start racoon hunting and wanted a 22. He has used it since then. I would guess it has had about a half million rounds through it and it still works fine.

When I had my shop in Florida, in the 80's, we worked on hundreds of these little S/Autos. The nylon buffer wears out and the action gets very dirty very quickly. Never had any firing pin problems or recoil spring problems. The only unique problem worth mentioning was that one particular 60 would function in full auto - yes that is what I said, full auto when it got very dirty. That is the only thing that we could find wrong - when it got dirty to a particular point (don't know how to quantify dirty but..) it would cycle and stop, when the trigger was released, in full auto. My partner Grizz and I could never figure out why... Other than that I have had numerous 60's over the years and they are good cheap guns for plinking fun. Sold our stock of parts for thes (and we had MANY) to Numrich in the late 80's.

Good for an occasional squirrel hunt outing. Clean the rifle after you clean the squirrels[:)]
