Colt Model P1940Z .44-40?

I just bought this, and it has a 4" barrel and no front sight. This info is written on the end-label of the white Custom Shop box, so it obviously came from Colt this way. It was previously owned but has not been fired, although the cyliner has been turned. It has the snap case and all the paperwork. Anybody have any info on this?
