I appreciate all of the friendly advice you folks offered last time I was looking at a handgun. I took the CCW classes here in Ohio and a guy let me shoot his Taurus snubnose 38 special. It seemed to shoot well (for the 30 rounds I put through it) and I thought about getting one for my carry gun. The 651SS has a shrouded hammer. What do you folks think of the 651SS? Any experiences? How about Taurus in general? Thanks again.

I carry a Taurus 85 snub nose 38 and I like it. It isn't as nice as a S&W in my opinion but it is a good gun for the money. I have the exposed hammer on mine because that's my personal preference. The concealed hammer is nice because it won't snag on clothing when you draw it. If you prefer the shrouded hammer then I say go or it.

We have had no problems with either. I would not buy a Taurus again, but this is only because I have decided to never again buy a foreign-made firearm when there is a U.S. made one available that is comparable. I like the feel of the SS frame better than the Airweight frame, but even with +P the Airweight frame is fairly easy to control.

I own a Blue 651. Shoots 38-.357. I like mine. Quite noticeable recoil using 158gr JHP 357mag loads.

Thanks again folks. I did it. I purchased a Taurus 651SS. Will shoot it soon. This will be my CCW companion. I appreciate your assistance. God Bless America.
