Another Citori ID?

TWalker's post reminded me of my oddball.
12ga. 2.75" Citori, 26" barrels, fixed chokes, Mod and Full, straight English stock and long trigger tang.
Serial Number: 02948PX103
As per Browning's serial number decoding:
02948 = serial number
PX = 1983
103 = 12 ga. 3 1/2" Gr.1 Hunting ??????
Not even close! Did Browning screw up?
I have an Upland Special 12ga with 24" bbls and Inv+ chokes. The receiver is visibly wider than the mystery Citori.

    You should check with TWalker on receiver width.

    There seems to be a lot of worry trying to force the gun in hand to agree with the secret code applied by a bored and sloppy serial number clerk and an arbitrary model name assigned by the advertising agency. As the 21st century saying goes, it is what it is.

    I've had the same problem in the past with the serial number look up. I just call Browning and they seem to always figure it out.

    Hawk Carse, some more research confirms that whoever was stamping these receivers, was drinking some good stuff.[:)]
    Everything matches up with a 12ga. Grade I Citori Superlight.
