I have a remington I think is a model 4 (lever takedown) 22 1/2 inch barrel. serial number J 267391 and a K (sideways) other marks on barrel bottom are
W P then 3 dots stacked on each other GV and facing other direction is D 18
the gun is in very good shape.... but it is blued where I thought they were supposed to be browned case hardened frame and the butt is much different then other model 4's ive seen ... it looks as if it has been blued. The blue there does show buffing marks and the rest of the gun does not appear to have been buffed as the corners and lettering is sharp.
A dovetailed front sight which can be moved and a short (aprox 1 inch) rear sight that is also dovetailed and has height adjustable screw. The stock has no visible signs of cracks or repairs but the finish has been altered.... no signs of sanding but looks to have had linspeed oil rubbed on it as it is to nice to be original. when I figure how to post photos I will.http://imageshack.com/a/img537/9089/jG2wa2.jpg

Takedown lever not indexed right, it ought to lay down alongside the receiver.
Relined barrel, nice job on rust reblue.
Identity Markings & S/N on receiver left side removed.
I'd replace takedown lever with a knurled screw type to get it out of the way. Barrel should be 22 1/2"
It's probably a great shooter. If so, I'd mount a scope on the barrel.
Someone put a bunch of bucks into it.
Nice gun but no collector's value.
