Rimfire Scopes

Hey all! I'm looking for a good rimfire scope to put on my kid's AR-22 (M&P 22). Here are the specs I'm looking for:

- Compact

- Able to be used on the AR-22 platform (eye relief)

- Magnification more than 2X (he doesn't need a long range sniper scope though)

- Less than $150.00

Any suggestions?

I was JUST looking at this model on Amazon Toad. It seemed like a pretty good choice to me too. Amazon had it for $115.00 plus free shipping!

I've had good luck with a Simmons 22 Mag scope which I put on my own .22LR gun (from a suggestion of another board member here, years ago).

Its got good (not exceptional, but not bad) image quality, and short-distance parallax designed to be used with .22 rifles. Its also got a 4 inch eye relief, which should be fine for a flat-top type AR rifle.

At $40 for the fixed 4x version, it won't break the bank, and For a kids 22, you could definitely do worse. IIRC it comes with rings, too. 3-9x version is another $10.

Another vote for the Simmons 22 Mag scope. Not a fan of Simmons or low end scopes in general, but this one (2 actually) has served me well enough. Beantownshootah has laid it out perfectly.

Sorry but buy the kid the best scope you can afford.
