1863 Sharps Conversion

A friend of mine recently purchased an 1863 Sharps Conversion carbine(converted by Govt.to metalic cartridge). This gun would grade close to "fine", if not "fine". He collects CW carbines, and already has a Sharps. He is offering the conversion to me for 1800.00, because he knows I've always wanted one. The similar ones(in this condition)that I have seen for sale go ALOT higher. Action, bore, finish, all of the categories are about as nice as I've seen on a period Sharps. It has never been "messed with". Should I jump on this? Thanks for any help.

I'm not to familiar with how much they go for, but my opinion would be to jump on it! It is not like they are making the real thing anymore.

If it's all correct and in the condition you describe, it should sell for at least $1,000 more. I'd jump on it. Congrats!

What to do when your friend offers you a great deal? You hope that he did not pay anymore for it than he is asking. If you can afford to keep it for at least a few years you take the deal.

Thanks for all the tips. believe me, my friend is going to profit a few hundred on it, but the gun is a "sharp" Sharps. I never plan on getting rid of it once I get my hands on it. He already has one, I think a '59. I think he paid alot more for that one, but this one is all-around better. He got a really good deal on this one. I feel like it will appreciate over the next decade.
