where could I get a 3.5 inch 12ga slug barrel??

Not sure if I would really improve anything, but if I did want one, where could I find a rifled slug barrel (12 gage) for three and a half inch shells?

I see the slugs from time to time for sale, usually online, sometimes at one of the local outfitters.

    For what shotgun? If the receiver wasn't made for a 3.5" shell, a barrel won't do you much good.

    I didn't know they even made 3 1/2 inch slug loads. I honestly believe a 3 1/2 in slug load would NOT offer any advantage over a 3 inch load. I use 2 3/4 inch loads and am very satisfied with those. The purpose of a 3 1/2 shell is to hold more steel shot or more 00 buckshot. A 3 inch load can be just as powerful, it just doesn't hold as much shot and since you will be using slugs there would not be any advantage to the longer shell length.

    You can get tri-ball buck shot from www.dixieslugs.com. He makes them in 3-1/2 inch length. When you light one off, it is a religious experience. I haven't seen a shotgun yet that would not throw all 3 .60 balls into a 10 inch circle at 30 meters. People hunt with .45 caliber black powder rifles during early muzzle loading season and kill plenty of deer. This is like three people shooting the same deer with .60 caliber at the same time.

    LOL guess I shouldn't post so sleepy...

    Want a barrel for a Remington 870 express super magnum, which can take 3.5 inch shells (aimed at duck hunters I think).


    And to AdamsQuailHunte, thanks for the link, but buckshot isn't legal for deer hunting in Iowa.

    Hello Again "non mortuss"[:)]

    If you can't use the tri-ball then go with the "Terminator" slugs. Even in a smooth bore barrel you are good to go out to 40 yards. (You are over gunned however as they were designed for large & dangerous game.) With a Remington 870 and a rifled barrel you can plant 3 of them inside of a sheet of typing paper at 100 yards.

    As mentionined before --- with the terminator you are over gunned but they will work great. You can shoot one straight in the butt and the slug will be just under the skin of the chest. He will go down like he was hit with the hammer of Thor. A sizable number of African guides are using them to back up their clients. They will stop an elephant or cape buffalo dead in their tracks.
