I was thinking about building an AK. I have found some FEG recievers for like $50. They are single stack though. What is different between a single stack reciever and a double stack reciever? (i know the difference between single and double stack, want to know about the recievers) Can single stack be modified to double stack?

For $5 more you're better off going with a No Dak Spud NDS-3 receiver.

Out of the 3 Romy AK's I built the ND3 was by far the easiest to build off of. The pre-drilled trunion holes save alot of time. At most you might need to egg them out a little.

The FEG receiver will mean you need even more US parts to be legal.
Single stack means the mag well is tight and will need to be opened to accept normal magazines. Another Pita.

    Aint it pretty!

Between me and my father we've done 3 AK's (well, 2.5) all on NDS receivers. They all lined up well, and went together with almost no modifications. The only thing we had to do them was dremel out the bottom for the double hook trigger.

They are excellent receivers, and I agree with Drobs 100% when he says for the extra 5 dollars to get a NoDak Spud receiver.

    Also, they parkerize nicely [:D]

If I might ask, I bought an AK-47 (so i was told) but it is 5.56 so doesn't that make it a ak 74? also, is there a web site I can go to to get the disassembly instructions for these weapons. I am also assuming that the SKS i own in 7.62 will disassemble close to the ak's. is this a correct assumption.?
    Thanks

About how much is it costing you to put together a kit? Been wanting to do it for a while but never get to it.

    Redice

    55 for receiver (+ ffl)
    100-125 for romanian G kit
    50-70 for US parts

I screw built my first one but unscrewed it and had it rivited. Having someone with a press handy is the key to a good build.

Another vote for NODAK. Great people. Oustanding product.

We (AZEX) will have a whole table full of NODAK receivers at the SAR show, the biggest gunshow of the year, here in Phx 11/30-12/2.

Figure you can buy a Wasr10 for about the same cost or less than building from a kit. But what fun is that?

    Question..
Is it true that an AK 47 is only a 762 and an ak 74 is only a 556? I would like to know since I know nothing of these weapons except that I own them. Thanks,
