Colt 1911 grips 1946

My Colt 1911 commercial model was shipped from the factory in 1946(SER# C2207xx).

I would like to put a set of period correct grips with the gun.
The few factory original 1911s I have seen from the same era all have plain brown bake lite grips.

Can anyone tell me if there were optional grip choices on these commercial models?
If so pics would be helpful.
thank you.

It is wrong to say "never" but the standard post war stocks were the same brown plastic they had been using on USGI contract guns. It didn't take long for them to put a Horsie in the mold, though.
I would want documentation before I paid a collector price for something else.

Colt called their plastic grips, "Colt Wood". Don't know if that is their name for bakelite plastic or not?

Some of the hard core collectors, are very particular about the mold markings on the inside of the grips. And various other features, like the rings around the screw holes, and reinforcements on the inside. Since the grips are so easy to change out, don't see that it makes a heck of a lot of difference.

Coltwood will also warp if it is stored off a gun or not kept tight to a hard backing.
