Have you ever seen a 37 Winchester marked US PROPERTY. Any details greatly appreciated.

fwiw I did a fairly extensive search online and can find no references to a property marked Winchester 37. You might post your question in General Discussion for a wider audience.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

Probably in the wood.. Some people try to make it more valuable. Seen that on some other single shots,,,BUT, I am no expert.

Possibly/probably purchased through Morale Support for use at unit level or rental at post gun club.
Just a WAG as the guns acquired for my arms room were marked U.S.Property. They were there for off duty use by troops who either didn't own guns or didn't want to drag theirs hither and yon.

I don't know, one way or the other. Just be carefull, if you intend to buy it. Putting phony U.S. markings on guns, to increase their value. Has become quite common, unfortunately.

As one of the previous posters noted. Might have been bought for recreational purposes? And be legit. But without documented provenance/chain of ownership? How can it be substantiated?
