What is the caliber, and does it say Springfield model and/or stevens on it?Does it have stained hardwood stock, and a groved lug nut where the barrel joins the receiver?

I've got one too. Mine says Springfield. The 840, as far as I know is the same as the Savage Model 340. $125 - $200. Mine is a 222 with a 4x scope; I paid $150 for mine.

rballi is right on all counts, but is a cheaper version of the 340-Savage,with the cheaper wood being the main difference. It is a fine shooter.
