They are both romanian but other than the stock what is the best choice and why?

    These are for all practical purposes the same gun, with the exception that the SAR has enough American-made parts to enable a legally-configured pistol grip stock. The WASR, as far as I know, uses all Romanian parts and therefore has to have a thumbhole stock to be legally imported. It really comes down to your personal preference whether you like a pistol grip or thumbhole type stock. Some might suggest that the WASR is superior because all the parts are Romanian, or so I've heard. For everyday use, either of these is going to fit the bill.

    Can anyone confirm that more romanian parts makes it a better weapon?
