Is it OK to use "44 S&W SPL" ammo in a revolver chambered for "44 MAG"?Thanks in advance for your expertise.

    You not only have buildup around the case mouth, but I believe you also has some erosion in the chamber itself. I don't know if or how long it takes to be significant, but for some reason I have heard it is a concern.Additionally when shooting a 44 special in a 44 magnum, you have a longer jump for the bullet from the case to the rifling in the barrel. This may affect accuracy as the bullet is more likely to hit the rifling of the barrel off center.These are some of the concerns that had some 357 magnum revolvers chambered specifically for 38 special.If you occasionally shoot 44 specials in a 44 magnum and clean the gun well, you should have no problems.
