I have a friend whose grandfather recently passed away and while cleaning up his stuff they found a Walther 9mm. It is in a holster marked 1915 and has the clip and a tool for disassembly. The gun is in 85% condition(maybe better). Someone told him that the gun should be destroyed and I told him that was BS!! I have the serial number it's 20782. All I can find is it was probably made between 1915-1917 and could be quite valuable. I know about as much about pistols as I do a computer and I consider myself computer illiterate!! Your help is appreciated! GHD

If it IS a Model 6, it could be worth well in excess of $1,000. Do you have a friend who could take high resolution digital photos of it for you? If you can get photos, there are a couple of forums for German military guns on the Culver Shooting Page, and you may be able to find a Walther specialist there to help. Otherwise, your friend will have to find a local dealer/collector who can eye ball the gun.
You are, of course, correct when you say that it doesn't have to be destroyed.
