I am looking for a 2.7 mm Kolibri (which is asmall centerfire pistol cartride) for my collection. One was auctioned on one of the on-line auctions last week and I missed it.

I would appreciate information from anybody I can contact or where I can find one of these cartridges.

Thanks.

Keep watching the auctions and do some internet searches. The following is the product of a quick web search using "2.7 kolibri" that produced several sites apparently related to the pistol, but this is the first ammo related one I saw. I'm sure there are more out there is one takes the time to use different search engines and search phrases. Happy hunting!

I've asked for information here and they are terrific people. Make sure that you read all of the links and post on the forum also.

    Best.

Watch the auctions! You may also wish to tie into some of the mail auctions which should be listed on the IAA site mentioned above. The 2.7 is a rarity as you obviously realize and commands a high price. If you are not already a member of the IAA, I would strongly recommend you consider joining, especially if your collection is so advanced you are looking for material of this nature. It will plug you into many excellent sources which are not represented in the on line auctions.

    Hi

Just thought you might like to look at a German Auction site, The auction starts on the 8th May and finishes on the 15th.

They have a Kolibri 2.7mm Cartridge up for grabs.

    Derek,

Welcome to the zoo . . . good to see more cartridge collectors joining the fold!

heavyiron, there are some nice items on the site Derek cited. The 2.7 Kolibri starts at Eu35 (~= $42) which is slightly lower than the prices I've seen realized from auctions over the past few years. I have no idea what sort of prices this commands in European circles. In collector pieces, there are distinct geographic markets (at least IMHO & experience). There is considerably less interest in metric material here than in Europe and less interest in American stuff in Europe . . . well, perhaps that is not the best way to say it . . . the priorities seem to lean toward products of the region. The less common specimens will be more expensive regardless of venue, but the expense seems to be higher in places other than where they originated.

Regardless, transferring live ammo internationally is an "experience" to say the least! Unless you have - say through the IAA - an associate from the nation / region where a particular item has been sold who travels here or you make trips to that area, it is a major PITA to move the live rounds internationally. My international customers have a variety of arrangements to obtain their US purchases and I make similar arrangements to obtain items I purchase from overseas sources. The simplest of these is for someone traveling between the two points to bring the material with them. This can entail some significant paperwork depending on the type of material and the laws of the other nation(s).

Sorry to ramble . . . my meds are fogging my mind . . . but the bottom line is this caution: before purchasing anything internationally, be very sure you have the means to get it here; shipping live ammo to / from locations outside of the CONUS can quickly bog down in a morass of obdurate bureaucratic restrictions. If anyone is going to pursue this course, contacts in the other nation(s) are essential.

I have just completed making some 2.7mm Kolibri cartridges. The price per cartridge is $50.00 US. Let me know if you have an interest.
