What is the largest frame lever action 22 offered? The Henry feels like a toy. Thanks

    +1 Marlin 39A , excellent lifetime+ guns.

Like most things, the older models ( not antiques ) are preferred, but the newer guns are solid good fit guns.

The Winchester Model 1873 was/is the largest frame .22 rimfire lever-action ever made. The Marlin 39/39A is a tinker toy compared to the Winchester.

+1 on the 39a also. But the new ones I have seen have a composite stock that feels a little toyish. I do not know if they have a wood stock available or not in a new model. I have one from the 60's and it is one of the best shooters I own.

Now, Bert - don't get your "Winnie" dander up! He said "What IS?" not "What WAS?". Besides, I love my "Tinker Toy". [:D]

If I am not mistaken, not all that long ago, someone offered a repro of the 1873, in 22LR. But there is nothing like the original, now is there Bert H?

I have an old 9422 Winchester that has a good heft and feel, but doesn't wear you out walking through the squirrel woods. One thing I particularly like is the 22 S, L and LR -- chambers and shoots shorts well, too.

...I'd go with the Winnie for a lot of reasons, awesome rifle...for many reasons! I do however really like the Marlin 39A too...[^]
