Just purchased one of these and would like to know if of good quality and any other info. about them. It was in box, manual, extra mag, some handling marks but believe it has never been shot. Paid $300 -was it a good deal?

Very good. I had a P 14 alloy frame I shot matches with before we started to shoot IDPA, it went through more than 10,000rds. before I sold it after not using it for a few years.
You got one heck of a deal on it. I sold my P-14 with 4 mags with plus2's for $650. It was a early one and I customised it. When I bought it the steel frames were scarce.

Very good deal, no. You stole it. The frame by its self is worth what you paid. I sold a one with over 100,000 rounds on it for $400 a year or two back, with no mags. Mags sell for $40 each or better.

I have went through several P16-40s since I started shooting IPSC. Good guns for the most part, mine have all been the earlier models; 1993-1995 or so, pre "Limited", "LDA" and all that nonsense. It seems you can find good deals on them on occasion from the guys who feel the need to upgrade to and STI or SV. STI and SV still have their fair share of problems, but owners don't admit it since they paid so much for their guns(STI and SV stand behind them well).

I bought one Like NIB recently for $400, it had some issues, but I sorted them out pretty quickly, and it has become a favorite(barrel link was too short, causing it to shoot way high, and mash up the barrel lugs, also didn't feed well). Para wasn't interested in doing warranty work on a new 10 year old gun, so I handled it myself.
