Looking at a model 2000 for duck hunting. Always wanted a semi auto
12 ga. What do you hear about the Stoegers. Reliability, etc.

Everything I have seen as far as reviews are great. My cousin had one for two years, liked it, but traded up for a Browning Silver.

You'll probably hear both pros and con's. I pheasant hunt w/a father son team that shoot Stoeger O/U's. The son shoots a youth model and is absolutely deadly with it. They like their guns and haven't had any problems. They're not fancy but seem to be functional. Don't know about the autos tho. There is a forum on the Stoeger website. See what they have to say about it. If these guys don't like something they will say it. Dave

I had one for several years .Purchased it for trapshooting and used
it for two years until I could afford a better gun.I put rem chokes
in it and shot the targets to pieces. My son still has it;after a good day of trapshooting and beating a few of his sqad mates they asked
what type of gun it was and my son says stoger they hung
their heads.I told my son it must hurt when they miss with those $12,000 trap guns!

went to the Stoeger forum and it sounds like the 2000 is not a bad shotgun for the price. The thing I did read though was that the Benelli customer service left something to be desired. That goes into the decision making process as well.

The 2000 uses the Benelli inertia drive system. Since Benelli owns them, the licensing agreement for the 2000 makes it a very attractive option as to price point. I have sold tons of them in the last 5 months and have had no complaints...period. People seem pretty satisfied with themselves and stories of embarrasing friends shooting their expensive Berreta's and Benelli's abound! Turkish made shotguns are some of the best surprises out there! Fairly cheap skilled labor and a fairly strong traditional domestic arms production market are bringing them into the fore of affordable shotguns. Nice guns for the money...excellent bargain I feel.

I had a Uplander side by side..I only gave 200.00 for it. It was good and tight. The finish needed redone. So i stripped it, stained it and put 6 coats of Sparthane on it, while buffing between coats. Turned out rather nice. I think they are very good shotguns for the money.
