[8D]I have an opportunity to pick up a 7.2 mil Inland M2 carbine that is a complete and correct C&R M2 carbine. Would appreciate any and all help in trying to establish the current market value of such.
I've heard numbers from $7K - 14K.
Thanks for any help in narrowing that down a bit.
Regards,
JB

The Class 3 dealers I know price their stock DAILY; that's how fast the market changes.

But, the range you quoted sounds like current retail for an M2 on an ATF Form 4. To narrow it down, we need more information:

Is the receiver factory stamped "M1" or "M2". If M2, is the "2" handstamped (i.e., misaligned)? Does the Form 4 show that the manufacturer is Inland, or someone else? Is it a registered RECEIVER gun, or a registered PARTS gun? What is the exact condition of the gun, including the bore & Muzzle Wear measurement? Does it include a WWII sling? Is the gun "original" or "arsenal rebuilt", or something else.

    Neal,
The Form 4 shows it as Inland, receiver ring (from the pics I've seen so far) appears to be a roll stamp "M2".
I'm not sure it is "original", but believe it's correct. Don't know the parts breakdown/MW yet.
At this point, I'm trying to establish how good a deal (around $6,500 to me +taxes)it is before flying to TX to check it out.
    Thanks for you help.

The reason for the wide price range is that at the top are those guns made by Winchester & Inland for the US military, & the bottom ones were pieced together by anyone before the ban. Genuine military guns are collectible as military pieces; the rest, including registered parts guns, are just machine gun "shooters".

So far, it sounds like the one you are considering is one of the good ones. The important thing is that "Inland" is shown as the manufacturer on the Form 4, not "Joe's Machine Shop". If everything else checks out, it sounds like a gun worth $12K, even with wear or some parts replaced.

You might want to check out www.subguns.com , as that is the biggest nationwide marketplace for Class 3 guns.

Thanks again for your assistance Neal.
I'm waiting for some detailed pics and parts code info to further evaluate the rifle. At $6K for a legitimate Inland, it sounds like a steal.
Looks like a home improvement loan might be in order.

We recently inherited a US Carbine 30 M2, with sling, and several clips full of rounds. We are looking to find out information of this type of gun.

    Actual selling price is $6000-$7000.
I have never seen or heard of an M2 going for $12K.
    NM, please provide some documentation?
You can ask more if you want to just show it off.
