Are there different sizes of the buttplates used on pre 64 Winchester SRC. The one I wondering about is the carbine curved not the shotgun style. I recently ordered a carbine buttplate but it does not fit. The tang part that goes over the the top of the stock is to short for my rifle that has a 1922 dom. As always any info is appreciated.

The Model 1892 and 1894 SRC butt plates are identical. The Model 1895 SRC is not the same.

Are you sure that you got a carbine butt plate not a rifle one? The entire plate should be made of thin metal and the tang should fit into the heel of the stock about 1 7/8 inches. A rifle butt plate is of much heavier metal, has much more of a curve, and the top tang extends into the wood about 1 1/8 inch.

Yes I have a Winchester 94 saddle ring carbine made in 1922. The buttplate I ordered the tang extends to 1 11/16". I have another 94 carbine made in 1927 took the buttplate off it and it measures 1 7/8" and fits the stock I need a buttplate for perfectly. The description when I ordered said Winchester pre 64 model 94. Could the Winchester buttplate I ordered be for a Winchester 1895 SRC as Bert said they are different. Anybody have a measurement of the 1895 buttplate tang. All help appreciated.

If the buttplate from another 94 carbine with the correct 1 7/8 tang fits, then your gun has the correct carbine butt and it is the new buttplate that is wrong. If it is for a Model 95 carbine, the overall length of the tang should be about 1 5/32 inches. Original M95 buttplates should also have a sliding trapdoor located a little below center, but aftermarket makers often leave this out.

Yes it is the new buttplate that is wrong and the tang measures 1 11/16" on the wrong buttplate. I need the 1 7/8". Thanks
