bipod attachment on Remington 78?

Pardon my apparent ignorance. I thought perhaps some of the more knowledgable people here could help me with this. I bought a Remington Sportsman Model 78 bolt action rifle today and wanted to purchase a Harris Bipod for it during the next few weeks. Do I need to get some kind special of attachment for putting it onto the gun? I know they have some universal ones that clip over the bore, but I would rather not use those if possible. Any help would be appreciated since I was not clear on some of the terminology (like QD, etc).Thanks,Adam

    Adam, Uncle Mikes sells about 10 different sling mounts. The bipod then attaches to the sling mount and your sling to the sling mount provided under the harris bipod. QD=Quick Detatch
