Measuring groups

I would like to know how to correctly measure target groups at 100 yards. I am curious to see how my shooting compares to others.

What is the quickest and most accurate way to measure your groups?

I just want to know if I'm measuring groups properly.
I shoot five rounds, measure the three closest outside edges and subtract the caliber.
If this is proper, are groups of 1/8" - 1/4" uncommon for a .270 WIN at 100yds.?

I always wondered. When measuring groups on a target, do you measure from center to center or edge to edge?-Marcus

Center to center. It makes the group smaller.

The proper way to measure a group is to measure from outside edge to outside edge and then subtract the bullet diameter, as it is difficult to be precise in finding the center.DB

Boy, I'm getting smaller groups than I thought. I always just measures from outside edge to outside edge.
