Does anyone manufacture a 1911 type pistol with a Commander Slide on an Officer Frame?I have only seen one pistol like this ever, it was one of those extremely expensive custom jobs made from two Colt pistols.I think its a really practical idea for a carry pistol though. One thing I've found about carry pistols is that the grip usually is the most bothersome part. Either the grips to big and protrudes from you clothing leaving a tale-tale sign that your carrying. Or its so short that you cant keep your pinky on it. But slide length really doesn't seem to have to much bother, at least with me anyway. I think it would be the perfect compact 1911. Not that I'm looking, just curious. Can't afford anything else this month... But next month is only a few days away hehehe...

The Kimber Compact does have a shorter stock (by .4") however they also use a four-inch bushingless bull barrel and shorter slide, not the full length Commander that lee was asking about.I don't know of any production pistols that fit your criteria, but you might get ahold of the Jon in the Kimber Custom Shop at jonathan@kimberamerica.com he could probably "Shoot" you a price on one ... who knows, maybe even start a new line!
