I have a pre-ban, unfired Colt AR-15 A2 in 7.62x39. I can't say it's new as I bought it in 1994, but I've never even chambered a round in it. It's been stored in my gun cabinet since I bought it. I still have the original box and paper work. I have the cleaning rods, but I need to know if anything else would have come with it, like maybe a strap. Can anyone tell me what this would be worth? Thanks,John

I don't know what it's worth. When you find out, let me know, I'll write you a check.

Yes it is a model 6830. I'll have to check on the other items you mentioned in your post. The serial number is LH0079xx.Thanks,John

"It should have come with two (2) factory low capacity PC mags, cleaning rods, manual and should have had a barrel insert (small cardboard tube) to prevent rust." I can't find any barrel insert."You didn`t mention the model, so I`ll guess it`s a Colt R6830 Lightweight Sporter and should have the flash-hider 16" barrel, but the bayo-lug has been machined off."That's the one."Does it have the machined front fence post for a tooless takedown (where it pivots for takedown in the front)"Sorry, not familiar with the term fence post. I'm assuming it's the front sight, but I don't see any machine marks there. According to the owner's manual there is no mention of tools for disassembly. "and should have a small vent hole just below the ejection port about an 1/8" in diameter." I don't see any vent hole on the side of the receiver. Is this hole supposed to be on the side of receiver and if so where in relation to the ejection port, or is it in front of the reciever hidden by the front stock?"Price will depend on the model and if it has the fence post as described and if it has the small or large pin receiver(located just above the trigger."I have no reference to determine if it's large or small. It appears to be the same size as the other pins, which I'm guessing to be approx 1/8"."It sould have been packed in a clear plastic plastic sleeve with blue writing."It was. The blue writing is in a pattern that it looks like blue circles around the plastic wrapper from a distance."This would be a transition gun, if bought in 1994 and classified as a Blue Label and the box label should also be "Blue"."The label on the end of the box is blue. I purchased it in March 1994 FWIW."Some of these are not really preban, as some fell in after the ban, so the serial number would help too, don`t need the last two digits, if you are uncomfortable giving the entire number." As stated in prior post LH0079xx. From what I've seen on a few websites, pre-ban is LH011326 and below. "If I`m close, let me know, if it is as I described. I would be a buyer for such a piece."I don't know if I was much help in answering some of the things you pointed out. I am intending to list it on Gunbrokers.com and the reason for the question of value. Thanks,[This message has been edited by catmonkey (edited 10-02-2001).]
