I am looking for information on an old Remingtion Pump Rifle that was found in my late grandfathers house. It's caliber is .25 Remington. Barrel length is 22 inches.On top of the barrel is "Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartidge Co.""Remington Works, Ilion, New York, U.S.A.""Pedersen's Pat. Oct.12,09 July5,10 Nov.19,12"On the bottom of the receiver is a "C" stamped over the serial # of "161xx"On the actual sight itself, is stamped "Mardle's""Gladstone""Michigan USA"[This message has been edited by ebeshirs (edited 10-02-2001).]

I have a 25 Remington that was the rifle my father used all of his life. The 25 R is a ballistic twin to Winchester's 25-35. It is not interchangeable as the 25R does not have a rim.The spiral magazine supposedly allowed for loading spire point bullets. Most people never trusted it and used round nose bullets. Calibers in this range are less powerful than the 30-30 and are not good deer killers. They do not generate enough energy to be legal in many states.That said, they are well made very intricate fashioned firearms. Ammo has been obsolete since the 50's, however it can be created by necking down 30 Remington brass using any proper 257 bullets. 25-35 reloading data is proper for this rifle. Remington loaded the cartridge in its Model 14 and 141 pump rifles, and its Model 8 auto loader. It was in a series Remington used including the 25, 30, 32 and 35 Remington rimless cartridges. 35 R cannot be resized to the 25, the others can.
