Glock 21 recoil

Is the recoil on a Glock 21 as as strong as a .45, or does the polymer absorb some of the recoil and make it feel like a .40 or 9mm, or something. Could you tell me about what caliber it feels like your shooting.

I extensively shoot both the 1911 and the Glock 21. The 21 was purchased specifically so that I could compete in Glock competitions. To me the felt recoil is approx. the same with both pistols, but different. Difficult to explain, but kind of like 2+2=4 and 3+1=4. I believe that the grip shape of the Glock and the material that it is made of deliver the recoil differently. I'm seriously considering a switch to a Glock 22 (.40) due to the smaller grip. One person's opinion and experience---I'm sure there will be more.

Der Gebirgsjager, is the Glock 22 you want to get as accurate as the Glock 21. I want to get a Glock 21 or 22, which one would you recomend?
