Anyone mount a scope on the old Springfield Trapdoor? Thinking about doing it and wondering what problems I might find. Thanks for your help.

Happy New Year. [:D]

Hairy: You didn't say if your rifle has the original barrel or not, but assuming it does, you can remove the rear sight and use a Brownells scope base blank (Picatinny type) drilled to the original hole pattern as the stock sight in conjunction with a long or intermediate eye relief scope with out altering the originality of the "flop top", all other mounts would have to mounted on the side to clear the breech block.

Jody: Thanks for that great suggestion. Yes, it is an original barrel and I'll jump over to Brownells and get the mount.

Again, thanks a lot and have a GREAT NEW YEAR!!!! [:D]
