Browning Hi Power Problem

I have a Browning Hi Power that I can't eject a cartridge (unfired) from the chamber. The slide comes back to just short of ejecting the cartridge then stops & I am unable to force it any farther back, I fear that when I last reassembled it I may have put the slide return spring guide in upside down. Is there anyway to fix this short of taking it in to a gunsmith?
Thanks for any advice even if it's only take it in to the gunsmith.

added I haven't worked on one since the 70's. So I'm guessing here. With the slide held back as far as it will go, and the magazine out can you work a tooth pick type item into the extractor to release the cartridge. Tipping the muzzle down let the shell move forward, then tip the muzzle up and let the round fall out the magazine well.
Ok. E-mail or call Browning and ask for guidance. You might also ask at Brownells.

Can you take it apart?
Can you remove the slidestop?
Can't remove slide stop, slide won't go back far enough to engage the slide stop release point

I got the extractor to let go of the shell casing & the casing to fall forward into the bbl but when I tilt it back there isn't enough room for the shell to fall out of the magazine well.
