can an antique rifle be shipped to a private party in washington state or must it be shipped to a ffl?

C&P Washington State law on transfer of firearms:

(4) This section does not apply to:

(a) A transfer between immediate family members, which for this subsection shall be limited to spouses, domestic partners, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, first cousins, aunts, and uncles, that is a bona fide gift;

(b) The sale or transfer of an antique firearm;

FEDERAL law defines Antique Firearm as a gun that uses loose powder and ball, OR was made prior to 1-1-1899.

It's fine. No ffl transfer is required as long as it's a true antique as defined by the ATF.

I will add this to the above...If it is a Winchester, DO NOT use the writings of George Madis to date it, as you could end up in serious error/trouble.

That said, if it is a Winchester, post the Model number, and Serial number here, and you will get the true date of Manufacture.
