Glock aftermarket barrels, are they any good?

I have a Glock 17 and am extremely happy with it. I've seen many ads from companies (Lone Wolf, etc.) selling extended, ported Glock barrels, promising reduced felt recoil, increased accuracy and durability. Will these barrels out-perform the stock Glock barrel enough to justify the price? Should I be happy with what I have? Thanks!

Good question; I guess it depends on what you mean by "outperform." I have a $100 .357 SIG barrel for my Glock 22 that works as well or better than the .40 SW Glock barrel. I also have a $200 Bar Sto barrel in .357 SIG for my HK USP which is as good as the .40 SW HK barrel. A better shooter might be able to detect a difference, but I can't.

I've been wondering the same kind of thing. I have a pair of Glock 21's (one for each hand) and have considered changing out the barrels for 2 reasons;1. So I can shoot lead bullets ... I reload and love cheep shootin2. Install the threaded barrels and the factory looking compensators (I also like the longer look)... any opinions?

I purchased a Federal Arms .357SIG stainless steel barrel($89.00)for my G27 and it is great! I also like the .357SIG round better than the .40. It travels at 400 FPS faster than the .40 and hits harder. I don't think I'm gonna put the original barrel back in.PS. NUNN go for it in that SIG of yours, buddy

Darn it Dano!Had I known that I would have ordered a threaded one and tried it, if I liked it I'd have probably made yoy a heck of a deal on one of mine, one had 10 rounds through it the other never fired. Both are about 5 years old though ... Now I wish I'd waited as I'd like to have the frame rail on them

What about the extended/ported option? Does it make a difference in muzzle rise? Lots of these companies are making lots of outrageous claims of huge decreases. Anyone care to comment? Thanks

Wish I tould tell you from personal experiance ... but I can't, all I've heard is the hype too. It kind of makes sence that they would be better than just the stock barrel as to reduce recoil and muzzel rise ... but dano had a Glock factory comped (ported) std length barrel and I think he said he couldn't tell any diffrence and didn't like the muzzel flash ... dano, you out there?

Where can I purchase a 357 Sig barrel for my Glock 23? Can I get a threaded barrell that can have a ported extension screwed on it which extends in front of the slide? It is a first generation 23. Best, Robert
