Ok I am looking for a scope as you might see from previous posts. I am considering a PSO-1 for my SAR-1, but I need some help. What exactly is a chevron reticle, i am VERY confused with that. Also, will the scope give sufficient eye relief? I heard that it sits kind of awkwardly on some guns. is the scope hard to work for a person used to a standard american style scope? is the adjustments when sighting in the scope the same as an american scope? do I have to buy a special mount for my gun or does it come with? Is this scope hard to understand and operate since the controls are in Russian or do they clarify it well. Thank you very much for your help, I just want to make sure I understand what Im looking at before I decide to buy it.

Hello-The "chevron" style reticle is just the style used by the Russians and other Euros. You are probably familiar with a "cross hair" style, the chevron is simply an arrowhead pointing at the point of targeting. As far as "eye relief" you'll need to work out your ergonomics on your own. I have an SVD with the PSO1 with a cheekpiece on my stock. The SAR1 is a basic AK carbine, so you might experiment with it a bit. The PS01 is technically made for 7.62x54R and longer barreled rifles, but you can adjust it for the shorter barrel/caliber. perhaps you can try to get a Pu or Po scope instead, which are physically smaller. Tantal has them.As far as your mount and adjustment questions, you should probably find someone who has one. The Russians used the same style mount on all their guns, so if you have the side rail mount on your Romanian SAR, you should be ok. Note that the Romanian imports often have a crappy painted finish which makes the rails THICKER, which will require you to sand the paint off before you can affix the scope.regards
